MTK Fight Night is set to return to the Ulster Hall on 11 October 2019 for an evening of professional boxing with a few of Northern Ireland's boxing legends.
The Ulster Hall has been Northern Ireland's premier boxing venue for the past 60 years and has graced many home-grown champions including Wayne McCullough and Barry McGuigan, as well as international legends like World Heavyweight Champion Sonny Liston. Today the venue continues to represent Belfast's boxing heritage, welcoming many of the city's boxing stars.
Belfast flyweight Paddy Barnes is set to take on European champion Jay Harris at the famous venue on Friday 11 October. Unbeaten Harris picked up the biggest win of his career in June, when he defeated World Title challenger Angel Moreno to win the European flyweight title.
“I’m really excited to be fighting Paddy Barnes. I think our styles will make one hell of a fight. I’m especially really looking forward to it after seeing the last Belfast show because the atmosphere was amazing. Jay Harris
Three-time Irish Olympian Paddy Barnes had an incredible victory this month at the Feile an Phobail over opponent Joel Sanchez and is thrilled to be heading back into the ring to take on his opponent.
Undercard fighters have been confirmed and include Marco McCullough, Sean McComb, Gary Cully, and Lewis Crocker, with more local talent to be announced in the run up to the event.
“I can’t wait for this fight. It is good it’s in Belfast as the fans wont have to travel far, but we are both experienced fighters so it doesn’t matter where it is. It’s going to be a brilliant fight." Paddy Barnes
Shankill super feather McCullough will be returning to the ring following his statement knockout win over Declan Geraghty in May at the Ulster Hall. This followed a dramatic win over Spanish contender Ruddy Encarnacion.
Turf Lodge light welter McComb dominated French hard man Renald Garrido earlier this month and is surely in line for a title shot should his recent progression continue.
Naas lightweight Cully is hoping to make a comeback after suffering a nasty cut on his knuckle at the past outing at the Ulster Hall in March. The Sarto southpaw was due to box in May but his wound reopened, meaning he was unable to perform. He's been back training and building to ensure he doesn't miss out this time around!
Finally Sandy Row welter Crocker will be returning after two incredible wins over Juamane Camero and Karim Aliliche at the last two Ulster Hall fights. Don't miss your opportunity to see hard-hitting Crocker in action as he searches for another knockout win in the iconic Belfast venue.
“We’re delighted to be returning to the Ulster Hall in Belfast for another fantastic show. The Belfast fans are amazing and they always make our events one to remember. Lee Eaton, Promoter
Opponents for the quartet will be confirmed in due course. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on our website and social channels on when tickets are on sale.
