We are delighted that our very own team member, Kitt Philippa, has had two singles, 'Grace' and 'You' shortlisted in the Best Single category of the Northern Ireland Music Prize 2019.
Kitt has worked in the events team with ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall since 2016 delighting our patrons and providing outstanding customer service as a front-of-house host, little do our customers know that KP has more experience on stage than off it. Understandably, Kitt has a love of all types of music and was exposed to a range of genres from an early age. As an organ scholar and an experimentalist, Kitt plays piano, guitar and clarinet among other instruments and writes their own songs including 'Grace' and 'You'.
Human
KP’s debut album ‘Human’ was released in early October 2019 and received rave reviews from music critics highlighting KP’s potential, as one of Northern Ireland’s rising stars. Currently, tracks for the album Human have had over 800,000 plays on Spotify and is available on all popular streaming services.
The Northern Ireland Music Prize 2019
The Northern Ireland Music Prize 2019 will be held in the Ulster Hall on 07 November when special guests Snow Patrol will receive the 2019 Oh Yeah Legend award in recognition of the band’s extraordinary achievements over the last 25 years. The event is an annual celebration of Northern Ireland’s home-grown and world-class music and we are delighted that one of our very talented team members, Kitt Philippa, is in the reckoning to win the Best Single prize with the songs ‘Grace’ and ‘You’.
The Northern Ireland Music Prize is a celebration of home-grown and world-class music
Louise Doyle, Director of Operations for ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall commented:
“We are so proud of KP, who is either on stage in their own right or working with us to ensure audiences are enjoying the performances of others. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase what Northern Ireland can do and also to support KP who has a clear passion and talent for music. It would be great to have posters of KP up around our venues for a sold-out tour in future years, creating ‘I was there when’ moments and inspiring a new generation of talent. Good Luck KP!”
In May 2019, KP played at the Ward Park music festival to the thousands of music fans who descended on Bangor to see a setup of home-grown talent including Ash, Foy Vance and of course Snow Patrol.
“I’m honoured that ‘Grace’ and ‘You’ have both been nominated at the Northern Ireland Music Prize 2019; I’m so encouraged and grateful for the support. For the Best Single category, the choice is yours - so happy listening! These awards are an opportunity for us all to actively celebrate the quality, and breadth, of music that emerges from NI.” – Kitt Philippa
