A Victorian Music Hall in the centre of Belfast…if walls could talk, the Ulster Hall would tell stories of Charles Dickens’ readings, guitar melodies by rock-legends Led Zeppelin and chilling performances by Ulster Orchestra.
As you enter the front doors of the Ulster Hall you take a trip back in time. The rich tapestry of events can be felt by all senses; the smell of the 150 year old building brings back memories of Pink Floyd playing Comfortably Numb, the creaks in the stairs as you climb harks back to the days Barry McGuigan won 11 titles in the boxing ring. As you enter the doors to the Grand Hall to take your seat you can almost hear the echoes of the music and applause from years past and the hairs on the back of your neck stand upright.
These hallowed grounds have been walked by many, the Ulster Hall has played witness to many questionable hair styles and fashion choices over the years but as style changes, the Ulster Hall remains the prime host to world-class acts including Snow Patrol and Lewis Capaldi.
There are endless activities in Belfast this October from murder mysteries at Belfast Castle and ghost trails at Crumlin Goal to the Halloween Monster Mash at Titanic Shipways, why not kick start the celebrations and join us in something a little different.
Of Monsters and Men
Of Monsters and Men are performing in Ulster Hall on 24 October, this group appeared on official soundtracks for franchises such as The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, and Beat Bugs, to name a few. In the midst of this rapid rise, 2015’s Beneath The Skin bowed in the Top 3 of the Billboard Top 200 and the band starred in an episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones in the same year.
"The song is a mix of many different emotions that come together to create a confusing chaotic state. We wanted the song to feel like a train that keeps going, like an alligator that is rugged and heavy and charges at you." Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir, writer and co-vocalist
Amanda Palmer
For something a little more candid, Amanda Palmer’s ‘There Will Be No Intermission’ tour which coincides with her new single Voicemail for Jill will be an awe-inspiring evening that Palmer claims will be her “most human and vulnerable stage-show to date.” Amanda’s show will be a night of graphic, honest, and funny storytelling.
Singa-longa Rocky Horror Picture Show
For more frightful fun, come to Ulster Hall on 30 October to Sing-Along Rocky Horror, which brings the campest cult classic of all time that gets the Sing-along treatment it’s been screaming for.
